The Bridge Inn offers good traditional food with a flair Both Inns offer good pub cooked food for that evening meal before a short stroll back to Pipers Cottage.
If you are lucky enough to be able to book the second weekend in November you will be in a prime position to watch one of the last fire festivals still in existence as the youth pull flaming tar barrels through the town at 5am!! The exercise is repeated at the more civilized hour of 7:30pm after the armada of colourful floats has been paraded through the town. A carnival not to be missed in November, p.s. Roger is on the committee.
In June there is a chess tournament, some times played in the rain! Regular events are held throughout the year so there is always something to do, see Hatherleigh.net , where all the latest new from Hatherleigh and area is regularly updated.
In April, on Lady Day, the Lord of the Manor holds court over her subjects. She has in recent times sent people to the stocks, for charity of course!
